Artist Statement

My art reflects my interest in the morbid and the fascinating, in cultural idiosyncrasies and oddities, acting as a visual and narrative messenger for the global psyche. My aim is to explore the symbols that come from our shared consciousness and dream worlds. I delight in rendering imagery that provokes anxieties about the present and the future, emphasizing universal fears and spiritual unrest.

I’m curious about how identity and cultural memory appear in archetypes, drawing on my childhood exposure to fantasy, horror, sci-fi, pop culture, film and religious and cultural ephemera. My work examines dream imagery to reflect shared memories and predict potential futures through visual art, essays, and stories. I paint mythic and often surreal imagery through race, gender, and psychological details that shape the visual style of my artwork, connecting the universal to the personal. Through my work, I want to understand how the subconscious uses these patterns to convey warnings, truths, and transformations that lie ahead. It offers a kind of speculative mythology which digs into the strange spaces between beauty and dread, memory and prophecy.
